We are a group of San Diego area college students who are involved in international robotics competitions. Our team is made up of students from various colleges with in San Diego area who are majoring in electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering as well as mathematics and computer science. We participated in this competition for the first time and we achieved all three objectives, which were: to have a competitive entry, pass under the validation gate and place fifth from last. It may seem that these were very modest goals, but since we were competing against such schools as MIT, Cornell, Duke, USC, and the University of Florida we needed to have realistic goals for our first appearance. We have since moved from17th out of 21 to 9th out of 27 beating most of the schools listed here.
